Volume 9 No. 1 /June 2007 starts from where Volume 8 No. 1/ June 2006 has ended. This volume follows the same trend in bringing some concrete understanding of different matters concerning different aspects of philosophical and theological perspectives. The volume contains two sections: One deals with Philosophy and Human sciences and the other one deals with Theology and culture. The Philosophical section starts with what Teresa Grabinska and Miroslaw Zabierowski call The Relation Thing-Number in the Cosmological Framework. They give us a deep mathematical reflection on the basis of the relation between a thing and a number. In the same section we read Grzegorz Trela's master piece on the Formal Theory of Value. For him for an object to have a value there must be some one who values it. Does he lead us to pragmatism? This will be found in the text. Next on line is a topic entitled Intellectual Neo-Colonization of African Philosophy written by Mr. Julius Wambua. Mr. Wambua points out that African Philosophy has its own specific value and nobody in the West should disregard this fact. It has been seen by some Western Philosophers that African Philosophy is a result of neo-colonialism. However, Wambua tries to disagree with this point. Taking our world today one finds that there is a problem of refugees and it has become our contemporary. In this view, Mr. Thadei Mwereke reminds us of this problem as reflected in his topic entitled, Refugees' Challenge to Africa: A Call to Conversion. Mr. Mwereke reminds us about the causes and effects of the refugee crisis in Africa South of the Sahara. In addition, Mr. Mwereke proposes a solution to this problem by advocating a call to conversion. In the Theological section we have a topic by Fr. Kosmas Asenga, OSA entitled, Christian Unity: A Possible Reality. Fr. Asenga points out that there is a need for a Christian Unity. However, he advices us that this goal can only be achieved if different Christian Churches opt for a constructive dialogue. According to him, dialogue can only be possible if there is a genuine understanding between different churches. Finally, Fr. Pedro Rubio, OSA writes about the dimension of learning according to St Augustine. His topic Students for Life: The Three Dimensions of Learning, according to St. Augustine. For Fr. Rubio no one stops from learning - learning is an endless process. He speaks of man/woman as learning animal. |
